Deploy Board and Management Team Profiles
The Deploy team come from all kinds of backgrounds and sectors, offering a wealth of experience in service delivery.
Chris Suddes, Chairman

Chris's background was originally in logistics; he worked at board level on public and private companies for over 20 years, the most recent role was as national operations and IT director for the UK's largest privately owned logistics company, with responsibility for 2500+ people across 70+ sites across the UK and a turnover in excess of £150m.

After a road accident left him paraplegic in 2001, he turned his energies to the non-profit sector, serving as a non executive director on North Sheffield PCT then on the board of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. He runs a small digital media company providing low cost web and print design for small businesses and non-profit organisations, and is a non executive director of the North East Ambulance Service and of www.patientopinion.org.uk.

Chris, 47, has an MBA from Sheffield University, is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and now lives in Newcastle. His interests include technology, music and photography

Lynne Hoy, Executive Director

After a career break to raise her children Lynne pursued employment in the independent sector and has continued to work in that sector for 9 years concentrating on regeneration, disability and barriers to employment.

She worked in the disability sector for 7 of those years, 2 managing a Supported Employment Agency for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health and 5 managing Deploy an organisation which works with employers to open up employment opportunities for disabled people.

Deploy achieves it’s aim by assisting employers to recognise disabling barriers in their workplace, physical barriers such as inaccessible entrances or equipment, and procedural barriers such as recruitment and other policies and procedures. Various methods are explored which can be introduced to remove these barriers and ultimately achieve accessible and inclusive employment.

Lynne's key skills, fine tuned as a result of raising two children, are organisational, multi tasking, negotiation, prioritising, and delegation. Through her working life she has also developed networking and decision making skills. Lynne considers herself to be compassionate, understanding and intolerant to injustice, attributes and beliefs which perfectly suits her current working environment.

Graham Bell , Non-Executive Director

Graham is a Human Resources specialist with over 20 years experience of people management ranging from recruitment through employee relations, learning and development, pay structures/systems and organisational restructures.

Whilst most of his experience has been in the Public Sector he also had his own HR Consultancy which specialised in employee assesment and psychometric testing.

Graham is a Charted Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. His interests range from listening to Jazz, Philately and an annual trip to Trinidad & Tobago where he is an active participant in Carnival.

Carl Samerson , Non-Executive Director

Following a short career in sport and then a period in the armed forces Carl eventually found a “proper” job selling advertising at The Yorkshire Post Newspaper offices on Wellington Street in Leeds. His time in Sales was relatively short lived as he went into the finance department within months and became the Credit Manager of the paper some 3 years later.

Since then Carl has been involved in Credit Control, Cash Collection and Debt Recovery holding senior management positions for several well known companies including Northern Rock, BUPA, Equifax and Chubb Security. He now runs his own business together with his partner Sandra Harvey from their offices in Doncaster where they work as commercial finance brokers “ASC Finance for Business”.

Deploy first came to Carl’s attention when upon opening an email his interest was awoken as to what Deploy were attempting to do. Having spent sometime in a wheelchair following a near fatal car accident three years ago he entered a competition that Deploy were running, relating his experiences whilst he was chair bound. His entry won the competition and he gladly accepted a place on the Board with a view to assisting in “getting the word out” through his contacts on the South Yorkshire networking circuit.

A member of Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley Chambers of Commerce Carl is also registered on the Yorkshire & Humber brokerage site, mentors other businesses as a member of Doncaster 100 and has working relationships with many local Business Link contacts.

Authorised and registered for business under the Financial Services Authority rules Carl is also a supportive member of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Carl’s hobbies include watching football ( well Huddersfield Town if that comes under “watching football”!) writing poetry and short stories, reading science fantasies and autobiographies. He has recently begun a 10 month course in clinical hypnotherapy which, if fate allows, he would very much like to practice full time at some point in the future.
